"Chris?" Prop asked curiously, looking up slightly. he scanned her face, taking this time to get a better look at her. She was definitely cute. She looked guarded however like she wanted to keep something out of her wall, to stop people getting too close. He shook his head ever so slightly to keep his mind on track and looked at her properly.

Lori nodded slightly, still staring down at the paper. "Chris. She's a friend of mine. Likes to talk a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean a LOT. Bit of a blond though." She laughed quietly to herself then shook her head. That was probably the most exact description of her that she can think of.

Prop chuckled slightly. "I see" he grinned. "Yeah I know someone like that...or rather I knew." he frowned to himself. "My cousin Candy. Exactly like your friend Chris it seems. She died a year ago though." he sighed and muttered something under his breath. "So it's just me and the girls." he managed a bright smile although his eyes were a little troubled. "We get on ok. " he looked at the seat opposite her and smiled. "mind if i sit there? it's a lot easier than talking across tables."

Lori frowned a little when he told her of his cousin's death. "I'm sorry to hear that.. and ah.. sure." She nodded towards the seat and set her cup of coffee down. Her hands clasped together and she looked down. Though she enjoyed the conversation, she wasn't quite used to it. It had been a long time since she had a real conversation.

He smiled and sat opposite her with his coffee and phone. "Candy was Faye's mother." he explained. "and Marion's sister. They weren't close. As opposite as night and day but Mari's very protective of Faye" he smiled and drank a bit more. "I also had a bunch of siblings.. I'm a triplet. Lottie ran away and Bella, along with my other sibs were taken away by my dad." He sighed then looked up at her. "So what about you? Ah. Sorry. Didn't mean to pry or anything." he shrugged and looked down at his coffee mug.

She stared quietly at her cup of coffee as she listened to him. Lori's head snapped up when he asked her the question and blinked before smiling a little. "It's ok. I don't mind. My life's pretty boring though, heh. A regular mother and father, a rebellious sister, the usual." She shrugged. "Though we are having some money problems." The lies came to her easily, as they always did. Though she had to admit it wasn't a complete lie. She was having money problems.

Prop nodded. "money problems eh? I sorta know what you're going through. We have enough to get by, but we live on the Rez and it's a really nice place, met my best friends there, but it's.. a poor place. I love it though." he smiled. "after all. Money can't buy happiness. I have my girls and it makes me happy enough. I think.. as long as you have someone you love.. money isn't really an issue. Well. That's how I see it." he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

She raised an eyebrow with an amused look on her face. " 'As long as you have someone you love' huh? Hah! That's pretty hard for me." She picked up her cup of coffee and finished the last of what was left before throwing it away. "And money's a big issue if you're about to be kicked out of your apartment." Her expression turned into annoyance both for her job and the land owner.

Prop raised an eyebrow. "why is that an issue? You said you have your parents and sister right? Surely you love them." he frowned slightly when she mentioned being kicked out of the apartment. "if that.. does happen" he said slowly "there's places on the Rez. My friend Darren's dad owns some of them and he rents them out for free if the people get a good word put in. I know you've only just met me and you don't know me.. But i'd like to help." he shrugged slightly. "your choice of course."

Lori swore to herself mentally and looked down. "Well.. me and my family aren't exactly on good terms with each other." It wasn't the truth, but it was the best she could come up with. "And thank you for the offer. I appreciate it, I really do, but..." But she couldn't. If she did, he'd realize she had no family. That she was living by herself, and she just couldn't deal with people knowing that. If the school or social services found out.. She frowned.

"Hey it's cool" he nodded with a small smile. "I know how you feel on the not on good terms thing." he sighed slightly. "But seriously. If you do need someone to talk to.. or you want to take me up on the offer..." he wrote down his number on a napkin and pushed it to her. "Just give me a call kay?"

Lori blinked and looked down at the napkin, picking it up. Her voice suddenly seemed to get very quiet. "Thank you..." She bit her lip as she stared at it then grabbed her pen and wrote her phone number down on another napkin. She hesitated for a moment before sliding it over to him. "Here. It's only fair since you gave me Yours."

Prop smiled. "thanks." then he folded up the napkin and put it into his pocket, draining the last of his coffee. "And you're welcome. I'm happy to help you out anyway I can." he smiled and it seemed when he smiled it seemed to light up his whole face, making him seem younger but when he frowned it made him seem older and more mature.

Lori couldn't help but smile when he smiled. Maybe he just had that affect on people. She put the napkin into her bag then stopped in puzzlement. She looked at him with a look of curiosity. "Why are you helping me? You barely even know me."

Prop simply smiled like it was obvious. "I want to do some good to the world. There are things...only my family know about me. I see it as a curse, they as a blessing. I want to give something back to other people." he shook his head. "It makes sense in my mind but it's hard to put into words...I guess I just like to help people"
